Star Wars fans across the globe celebrated May the Fourth this year (I saw a guy with a light-saber leading a group of high-school-age kids down the street, and I still don’t know why). Haven’t we all wished at times that Star Wars was real?

Oops, sorry – I mean, everyone knows Star Wars actually happened; it was just a long, long time ago, and in a galaxy far, far away. (Is that better?)

But (rephrasing my original question) haven’t we all wished at times that we lived in that galaxy far, far away? Hasn’t everyone fantasized at some point in their childhoods (or young adult years, or like, yesterday) about being Luke Skywalker?

Here are five reasons why it would be great if Star Wars was real:

1. Having the force would make life a heck of a lot easier

The force makes things so much easier!

Of course, we all know that only Jedi can wield the force, but that doesn’t stop us from thinking about how awesome it would be if we could summon the TV remote to our hand without getting up off the couch. The force would also be great as an accident prevention tool. You’d know something bad was going down whenever anyone used the exact words (and I quote, verbatim): “I’ve got a bad feeling about this.”
