Asian Kpop Singer CL Claims to Be the “Baddest Bitch” On Her North American Tour

Feeling so clean, it don't get no fresher…

K-pop singer CL has embarked on her first North American tour. Dubbed the CL Hello Bitches Tour, it was a first for the Korean singer/rapper. The tour stops in 9 cities. 8 cities in the states and one in Canada. Yesterday, she finished her third stop of the tour wowing fans in Vancouver, Canada. Known to be the leader of one of the hottest music groups in Asia, 2NE1, she made her solo debut in 2013, with “The Baddest Female”. And yes, it’s true. She is one of the baddest females.

Who is CL?

Chaelin Lee, better known as CL, was born in Seoul, South Korea in 1991. She lived in multiple countries, and as a result, is able to speak English, French, and Japanese. After debuting with 2NE1, the group achieved tremendous success throughout Korea. They then continued to spread throughout Asia. With a bit a different approach to kpop, the group got the attention of people in the United States, as their music seemed more westernized, matching what Americans were interested in.

It was apparent that CL, the leader of the group, was the best chance of breaking the American market, due to her style and English ability. And of course, she debuted in 2013 with “The Baddest Female”. CL would later go on to have her English debut.

CL English Debut

CL’s first venture into the English market was with her English-focused song, Hello Bitches. If someone asked “what does Asian pop music look like?” they would never expect this. All the cutesy music videos, explosions of “kawaii”, and melodramtic lyrics about lost loves. This isn’t really CL’s style, as you can tell. Since her beginnings with 2NE1, she was known as a loud-mouthed, irreverant lyracist, never giving two (units of fecal matter) about anything. But what does that mean? It’s perfect for the North American music scene. It’s finally something that could put the foot in the door of the US music market.

The CL Hello Bitches Tour is currently under way, and is providing loud, energetic shows. At each of the shows so far, the crowd has been on their feet, screaming at the top of their lungs, and waving the freebie lightsticks like there was no tomorrow. She sure seems popular with the fans. As CL starts getting her name out there, could this be the big break that CL needs to get into the US market? Or maybe the big break for kpop in general? Kpop has spread worldwide, and we don’t just mean Gangnam Style. Throughout Asia, Korea has produced a monster industry of music, and because of her energy and English skills, CL can lead this charge. The CL Hello Bitches Tour could be the beginning of a new era.

Be patient it’s never been done

Asians we rise with the sun

Invasion, no mercy

Takeover, we thirsty…
