Flying makes a lot of people nervous. And this next story does little to ease those worries. It all began on Tuesday when Adam Saleh, a prominent Muslim YouTube star, posted a video on Twitter. Saleh claimed that he was kicked off a Delta Airlines flight for speaking Arabic.
However, there is more to the story than meets the eye. The latest developments suggest that Saleh left out a few vital details about the incident. Moreover, witnesses suggest that the Muslim YouTube star is at fault for what transpired on that flight. Fasten your seatbelts, everyone, we’re in for some turbulance.

Saleh’s claim to fame is through the production of a number of videos that highlight racism in society. Some of his popular videos explore whether Arabic clothing or language provoke discriminatory responses on airplane journeys. This has led to Saleh’s popular YouTube channel amassing over 2.3 million subscribers.
The latest incident sent the internet into a frenzy when Adam Saleh posted a video of him and a friend being escorted off a Delta Airlines flight. The video earned over 800,000 retweets and 700,000 likes on Twitter.
The Muslim YouTube star claimed that fellow passengers became uncomfortable because he “spoke a different language” to his mother on his cellphone. He further stated that this was a prime example of “white people against us bearded men.”
Frequent Liar Miles
As with everything in life, there are two sides to the story. Passengers on the flight claimed that Mr Saleh was not merely speaking Arabic on the mobile phone and to his friend as he insinuated. They insisted that the star was in fact shouting Arabic phrases with his fist raised.
During an interview with ABC News, a witness stated:
He stood up and started shouting with his fist up in the air, shouting something in Arabic for no reason, and sat down. A few minutes passed and then he was up again, doing it again. He did it three times until eventually people said ‘no, no, not happy with this.’
Delta Airlines Speaks Out
Upon reviewing the disturbance, Delta Airlines posted a statement on its website corroborating the witnesses’ claims. The statement read:
Based on the information collected to date, it appears the customers who were removed sought to disrupt the cabin with provocative behaviour, including shouting. This type of conduct is not welcome on any Delta flight. What is paramount to Delta is the safety and comfort of our passengers and employees. It is clear these individuals sought to violate that priority.
Furthermore, Delta reiterated the fact that Mr Saleh is a known prankster and suggested that it was a stunt for attention. The airline further contended that the YouTube star was encouraged by his traveling companion to carry out the “prank” and record the incident.
For his part, Mr Saleh has not responded to the rebuttal by witnesses. Instead, he stated that “the media is twisting up [his] words.” In today’s digital world, there are many who seek attention through questionable means, and it hinders legitimate progress. It goes to show that for society to move forward, we must all do our part to help it lift off in the right direction.
