The feeling of doom you feel could be tied to less daylight.  That means darker rooms and spaces more often.  Not exactly helpful for someone who already feels trapped or impacted by darkness.  A common treatment for seasonal affective disorder involves light therapy. Talk to your physician about buying a light therapy box that has the right level of brightness to match the severity of your SAD.
